We met in a classroom at MIT in 2014. John was a doctor working at MIT’s Media Lab, looking for a new way to power health devices. Lixin, was a PhD student at MIT’s Computer Science & AI Lab, who had a breakthrough: an historic mathematical proof that allowed the shaping of magnetic fields in real time. This breakthrough unlocked the solution to wireless power—the idea for Pi was born.
Along the way we have had the support of leading investors (Ryan McIntyre of Foundry Group, Jeff Clavier of Uncork Capital, Hadley Harris of ENIAC, Lee Hower of NextView, and Silicon Valley Bank), technical mentors (Profs. Dina Katabi & David Perreault), and brilliant colleagues (Emmanuel Lim & Zach Kabelac). Our gorgeous industrial design was made possible by our deep collaboration with Beau Oyler’s team at Enlisted Design.
But, the most important people on our journey are our Pi teammates (pictured above and below). They took a concept and brought it to life, inventing their way around each new challenge. Collectively they have launched and shipped over 15 products enjoyed around the world. Without their passion, ingenuity, and teamwork, Pi would not exist. They are an inspiration to us each day. Together, we make everyday magic.

WANT TO JOIN US?
Pi is on a mission to help people keep all their most important things powered up. We know that for this to happen, we need people like you helping engineer, market, streamline and develop the product and our company. Because of this, we take hiring the right person seriously and always celebrate when we find someone that fits. We are a team of fearless individuals pushing the boundaries of wireless charging technology.
